Meet the coaches

Four coaches, one philosophy: develop the player, build the person, protect the team.

Coach Rey Asuncion
Head Coach & Club Director

Rey Asuncion

Head Coach U14 NBL · Director, London Mambas

Basketball has always been more than just a game to Coach Rey. It has been a platform to inspire, develop and build a community. With a coaching philosophy centred on player development, teamwork and discipline, he founded the London Mambas in 2024.

Starting in the local Filipino basketball community, the club quickly established itself as competitive and determined, winning four championships through hard work and a strong team culture. Taking the club into the BDL Development League gave players a more structured, competitive environment to elevate their game.

Today, as Head Coach of the U14 London Mambas NBL team, Coach Rey leads the programme into an exciting new chapter as the club prepares to enter the Junior National League.

“My goal has never only been about winning games. It is about building character, creating opportunities, and helping young athletes believe in themselves.”

He believes in creating a culture of hard work and discipline, inspiring players to give their best in every practice and game.

“Go slow, keep going, the speed will come.”
Coach Euan Castillo

Euan Castillo

Coach, London Mambas

A former player with a passion for being a catalyst to the young generation's development in sport and character. A student physiotherapist and soon-to-be Level 2 Basketball Coach, Euan is focused on sharpening players' skills, sportsmanship and attitude while continuing to develop his own craft.

At London Mambas the drive is to uplift young players who may not yet have the confidence to come out of their shell, as a person or as an athlete. With the Mamba Mentality as the foundation, the club is rooted in discipline, high energy, hustle and, above all, community. Every session, every game and every coaching decision is made for the team and the people behind them.

His role is to support player development through coaching, with plans to offer sports massage and physiotherapy on the sidelines to keep players safe and support recovery and rehabilitation.

“We share the same goal and the same mindset: to learn how to fight for what we want, turning losses into lessons, and understanding that wins come as a by-product of hard work and discipline.”
Coach Dan Espinosa
Coach & Personal Trainer

Dan Espinosa

Coach & Personal Trainer, London Mambas

A former player with a passion for helping young athletes become the best versions of themselves on and off the court. Dan is a qualified Personal Trainer and Level 2 Basketball Coach, focused on developing players through skill development, sports performance and positive mentorship.

At London Mambas, players and coaches feel like family. The culture is built on dedication, discipline, hard work and, most importantly, joy. The Mamba Mentality is about how we approach everyday life, growth and adversity, not just basketball.

Dan supports player development through basketball coaching, strength and conditioning, and nutrition education. What athletes do outside of training, from recovery and habits to mindset and preparation, is often what separates good players from great ones.

“Our goal is to help every player build confidence, character, resilience and a genuine love for the game.”
